Before relocating to Canada, Alex worked as a veterinarian in Europe. However, as is the case with many medical professionals trained overseas, he was not licensed here, so he decided to continue his career path with pets through dog grooming and doggie daycare services.
“I used to groom my own Schnauzers myself,” says Alex. “Basically, that’s how I first started grooming. When I was working in a vet clinic in Europe, I also started my own grooming shop and I loved it!”
Arriving in Vancouver in 2007, Alex worked in popular grooming shops on the North Shore and in West Vancouver before opening his very own shop, Good Karma Petspa, in Burnaby. Alex’s goal is to provide pets with the high level of attention he believes they deserve.
“Most grooming shops seem to run assembly-line services, but I’m trying to be a little different,” explains Alex. “I‘m grooming one dog at a time, thus minimizing the waiting time and giving them my full attention from start to finish. I really like to give the dogs the best possible experience, so I spend much more time with them than any other groomer that I know of, just so they can relax and develop a friendship with me.”
In 2013 Good Karma added daycare to their services, focusing on providing a fun and safe environment for their guests, to socialize and exercise during the day.
Fun and smart training programs with Yogadog were also added, to provide more high quality services for the members of Good Karma Family.
